Hi!  Welcome to my blog!

My name is Adelaide – Ade if abbreviation is your thing. A if you’re into extreme abbreviation. I play a lot of soccer. Goalkeeper mostly – except when I'm leading my pick up teams to victory. I’ve done some cool stuff. But all you really need to know is that I love soccer and people who love what they do.

So why write a blog?

Mostly because I wish I had. Back when I transferred, or when our team lost in the Sweet Sixteen, or when I first moved out to Portland. I wish I could remember everything. Not the way I want to remember it, but the way that I experienced it at the time.

I’m technically unemployed right now. Technically 24. (I don’t know why I said technically) And I’m trying to continue to play soccer.

I’m in an in between place. Kind of like “the waiting place” in Dr. Suess’ Oh the Places You’ll Go.

I’m sure you all know the place I’m referring to. You wake up one day thinking I’m the best. Everything is gonna go my way. I’m working hard. I feel good. Let’s do this!

And the next day you wake up thinking holy crap things are so NOT going my way. I have no idea where my life is headed. I’m going to die anonymously. And does my hair always look this bad? Then you make a deep guttural sound like ughhhhhh before putting your socks on and realizing they don’t match.

I’ve been here a few times. It’s really not so bad. It’s just that place you have to pass through to get to where you’re headed. (Kind of like South Dakota or Albuquerque.  I’m kidding – if Albuquerque is half as cool as its name, I’m sure it's America’s best-kept secret)

And if you can get over the fact that your socks don’t match and realize that no your hair doesn’t always look that bad – it can actually be a pretty cool place. (I mean look at the combination hat/turtleneck on that one dude.  What’s the story behind that?)

So what to write about? I’ve been told that blogs are supposed to have a theme. Like 400 ways to cook chicken, 101 moustaches or 10 reasons why Carly Rae Jepsen’s CD is way under-rated. (All blogs that would interest me)

Mine is simple. This year I’m going to tell you 26 things I love and 26 things I hate. Why 26? Because that’s 52 things. And there are 52 weeks in a year. That’s one thing a week.

Why should this interest you? Well hopefully some of these things I love and hate we will have in common – some of them may even be ubiquitous. But even more fun – some of these things we may not have in common. I look forward to the disagreement.

Either way, I’m sure I will have a good time talking about myself. Don’t we all.

p.s. I hate intro blogs.

I bet you do too.
